What's it about
Jackson (Bradley Cooper) is an alcoholic bad boy rock'n'roller who falls in love with Ally (Lady Gaga). She is fresh-faced singer/songwriter and occasional waitress. The two falls in love. We see how their young love is played out in the backdrop of Jackson's fading star quality and Ally's rising star appeal.
The film is rupturous and swooning but also delicate and intimate. It is a slow burning love story set against the backdrop of alcohol, drug addictions, as well as complex deep-rooted psychological issues. Gaga and Cooper make the film feel fresh and full of the sole. The central questions of the film is 'Can love save them or will they fall apart under the weight of emotional pressure and addictions?'.Only way to know is to go and see it.
Value for money
Bradley Cooper in this movie proved to me 3 things: he's a great director, he's an outstanding actor and he can make a lead actress out of Lady Gaga. His role was like a role of the Joker by Heath Ledger - you could smell his breath just by looking at him. His whole image perfectly suited to an old rock star who is slowly fading. Lady Gaga has shown off her acting skills by being so absolutely natural, that in some scenes I felt like I was watching a documentary. Story even though it was quite obvious love drama (and a remake) still was engaging thanks to the 2 leads. Directing was amazing, not even for a second of the movie was dragged. The ending was not something you would expect from a romance movie, however, it was interesting to see something different.
